January 14

Math: The kids continued doing lessons in Teaching Textbooks online.  Sullivan is almost finished with his daily skills workbook and is asking a lot of questions about multiplication. Simon likes a trick his friend taught him about multiplying by 9.

Language Arts: We read the next chapter in Indian Captive together.  Daisy is working on a bill for Student Congress.  Simon caught the reading bug with the Percy Jackson series. Sarajoy finished her first book in The Littles series.  Daisy wants to read all day long.  The kids continue work  in their language arts workbooks and journals.

Science: Sullivan is so happy he is reading fluently enough to read his Zoobooks magazine. He learned all about Australian mammals this month. Sarajoy and Daisy did an activity from  Click magazine about penguins.  We spent a couple of cold sunny days at the pond learning about winter and ducks and muskrats, training our dog, and talking about protected species.

History: We read in Indian Captive about what kind of clothing the Indians wore and how Molly is learning how to gather wood and pound corn.  One of our own family traditions is to make snowflakes when we take down Christmas decorations.

Music: The kids made up songs about geese at the pond. Everyone is working hard on their latest violin songs.  Sullivan is especially proud to have mastered May Song.

Technology: Simon did his tinker crate and loves learning about how to make a you tube channel. Daisy took a stunning picture of a leaf on a stump at the pond.  Sarajoy and Sullivan love building with Goldiblocks and setting up Sullivan's domino rally maze.
