October 29-Nov 5

Math: Sullivan had a hard time figuring out one of his math activities this week, but he felt really proud when he figured it out. Simon was excited that he can now add faster than his friend. He feels really good about his progress in math using Teaching Textbooks.  He's excited to get to division. Sarajoy and Daisy continue their Teaching Textbook lessons

Language Arts: Daisy placed 7th in Impromptu at her first speech and debate competition! The kids each do a daily journal entry, grammar lesson, and read aloud. Sarajoy finished The Courage of Sarah Noble.

History: Sullivan was an Indian (Native American) for Halloween.  His dad was a mountain man.  The kids enjoy learning about and playing Native American toys and props. They are also each reading a book out loud that relates to history.

Science: The kids made a big pile of leaves and jumped off the retaining wall into it.  Ranger Rick is helping them learn about a lot of animals. Simon and his friend did a bunch of experiments with baking soda and vinegar.  Their favorite was the exploding water bottle.

Music: The kids each practice from their Suzuki book each day. Working on Beauty and the Beast and Amazing Grace as a group.

Technology: Simon is having so much fun on Tynker! We got a new Tinker crate in the mail. Sullivan and Sarajoy love the math manipulatives that they call "Minecraft Blocks." They have all been having fun with Minecraft and Google Hangouts.
